UIN Jambi Architecture Students Get Intensive Software Training in ‘Extension Class’ Program
JAMBI, August 20, 2025 – To boost students’ digital skills, the Architecture Study Program at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin (STS) Jambi held its monthly Architecture Academic Writing (AAW) program, this time with an ‘Extension Class’ concept. The program, which ran from late July to mid-August 2025, provided intensive training on three essential software in the architecture world: AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Lumion.
This special class was designed to equip students with practical skills that will support their studies. The students received in-depth lessons on:
AutoCAD, A key software for creating precise 2D and 3D drawings.
SketchUp, A 3D modeling software used for designing everything from buildings and interior furniture to site plans and construction details.
Lumion, A 3D architectural visualization software used for creating realistic renderings, animations, and presentations quickly.
The training used a hybrid learning model, starting with intensive face-to-face sessions from July 28 to August 9, 2025, held in Class 604. This was followed by online independent learning sessions from August 11 to 16, 2025.
The students were guided directly by expert lecturers in the field, including Randy Rizal, S.T., M.Ars., Syahidullah Habibie, S.T., M.T., Ir. Brama Nalendra, S.T., M.T., and Shinta Oktaviana, S.T., M.P.W.K. The program was coordinated by the Head of the Architecture Study Program, Badariah, S.Pd., M.Pd.
She stated that the extension class demonstrates the program’s commitment to improving the academic quality of its students. “This activity is carried out continuously to improve the academic competence of architecture students,” she said.
Through this Extension Class, architecture students at UIN STS Jambi are expected to gain valuable insights and technical skills that will greatly assist them in their studies and build a strong foundation for their future careers.
